NEW “Adopt-the-Fridge”

Are you looking for a unique way for you, your community group, or your business to make a positive impact in the Dorchester community? Consider adopting the Station8 Community Fridge for a week! With a minimum $100 donation, our team will purchase fresh food—like eggs, meat, bread, and seasonal fruits and vegetables— from local farmers which will help stock the fridge throughout the week. Adopting the fridge helps to ensure ongoing barrier-free access to nutritious food within our community. We will gratefully acknowledge all adoptions during the week. For more details or to explore other ways you can get involved with the fridge, please contact us at programs@station8nb.ca

Meet our new Executive Director

It is with great pleasure that the Board of Directors of the Moving Forward Co-operative announces the appointment of Jonelle Mace as its first official Executive Director. Jonelle and her family have returned to Tantramar after living in BC and Ontario for the past few years and she says, “We have always felt that nothing rivals the beauty, approachability, and warmth of Atlantic Canada, so we are ecstatic to be back.” Jonelle’s husband is global director for a financial technology company and a big supporter of MTA athletics, particularly football having both played and coached there in the past and her four daughters (aged 15,13, 9, and 7) have already become actively engaged in the community and local sports.

Jonelle has worked in the nonprofit sector for many years as a General Manager, Director, and Chief Operating Officer. “My priority as a leader is compassionate, accountable, honest, and people-oriented advocacy for community wellness. I’m looking forward to what that might look like here.” Jonelle has a strong background in the social enterprise business model that Moving Forward operates under and has experience with other volunteer-driven organizations and Boards of Directors. She brings a wealth of information and experience and shares Moving Forward’s values of equity, equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Wendy Keats has been volunteering in the role of Executive Director of the Co-op for the past 3 years and has watched it grow from a small group of board members doing all the work to a beehive of 60+ members and volunteers who share Moving Forward’s vision.  Wendy says, “I couldn’t be more thrilled to be passing the torch to Jonelle and I have no doubt whatsoever that she will carry this amazing organization to a whole new level. She has an excellent background, is passionate about what we do, and has a great Board, staff, and volunteers to work with. I don’t think we could have found a better person to lead Moving Forward into the next phase of its development and I can’t wait to see what comes next!’

The Co-op’s President, Stephane Pigeon, is equally excited to be bringing Jonelle onto the Moving Forward team and says “The people involved with our Co-op genuinely believe in, and love, our community and it was apparent right from the beginning that Jonelle shares our passion and ‘gets’ what we do and what is so wonderful about this place. There is so much potential here for families, businesses, and literally anyone who wants to live in, and be part of, one of the most beautiful places in the world and we have no doubt that Jonelle is the right person to move us into the future.”
