About Us
We are a non-profit co-operative established in 2016 by a group of dedicated community members with a hope to see our small community brought back to life! As a co-op, we are member-driven and governed by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors. We carry out a variety of activities aimed at building and strengthening our community including food sovereignty and food security initiatives, youth and citizen engagement, community events and celebrations, trails and eco-tourism, and promoting Greater Dorchester as a great place to live, work and play.
To sustain our organization, we use a social enterprise business model, starting with the purchase and development of the Station8 property in 2019. This beautiful Victorian house and adjacent garage is our headquarters and where we deliver most of our programs. It has been renovated from top to bottom and generates revenues by renting out program space and short and medium term accommodations. Our newest social enterprise is the Station8 Community Food Hub which is a large building on our property that has been renovated to include a Class IV commercial kitchen, as well as space to host workshops and programming.
